Film and Television Creation and Research Center



Film and Television Creation and Research Center is jointly built by the China Association of Higher Education Film and Television, a national-level academic society, and Zhengzhou University. The Center was approved by the fourth meeting of the Fifth Council of the Association in 2019, after being proposed by the third working meeting of the Presidents of the Association. The Center aims to produce high-level research results and excellent film and television works, to enrich the storytelling of Henan stories and the inheritance of the Yellow River culture, and to contribute to the promotion of scientific research innovation and the construction of a first-class university.



The Center focuses on combining theory and practice, research and creation, and character and vision. Based in the local community, the Center draws on the profound cultural heritage of the Central Plains to build its cultural roots; with a global perspective, it strives to build a first-class creative research institution in China with a broad international outlook. The core team of the Center is mainly composed of faculty members from the School of Journalism and Communication of Zhengzhou University who are engaged in film and television research. The team currently consists of four professors, four associate professors and five lecturers, all of whom have PhDs except for two who have master's degrees. The team members have diverse academic backgrounds and have graduated from well-known institutions or film and television majors at home and abroad, including Communication University of China, Central Academy of Drama, Wuhan University, Renmin University of China, Hokkaido University in Japan and People's Friendship University in Russia.



The team members have presided over seven projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation, including three projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation for Arts, two projects funded by the National Arts Foundation, and one sub-project of a major project funded by the National Social Science Foundation. The team has also presided over more than 20 provincial and other projects, published more than 10 books or textbooks on film and television, received 8 awards at provincial level or above, and published more than 100 academic papers on film and television.



For a long time, team members have been actively serving the development of the film and television industry and contributing to film and television decision-making. Members of the team have served as judges for the Henan Province "News Award", Henan Province "Five One Project" Award, Henan Province film censorship experts, Henan Province TV drama censorship experts, Henan Province radio and television evaluation experts, Zhengzhou City "Five One Project" Award judges.
