Diamond Micro/Nano-Optics Research Group

The Diamond Micro/Nano-Optics Research Group at the School of Physics, Zhengzhou University, conducts research and education in collaboration with the School of Physics and the Zhongyuan Light Laboratory. The group focuses on frontier topics in micro- and nano-optical devices, optical metasurfaces, and wide-bandgap semiconductor materials and devices, with an emphasis on fundamental studies and technological innovation for applications in information processing, imaging, sensing, and extreme environments.

Our research centers on diamond metasurfaces, integrated optoelectronic devices, and related application-oriented systems. We develop novel approaches in micro-/nanofabrication, wavefront engineering, structured light generation, computational imaging, and polarization sensing, aiming to explore the fundamental physics of light–matter interaction and translate these principles into functional devices. In particular, the group addresses key scientific and technological challenges in diamond optical components, metasurface-enabled light-field manipulation, semiconductor micro-/nano-optoelectronic devices, terahertz photonics, and intelligent optical imaging. These efforts contribute to the development of high-performance micro-/nano-optical devices, on-chip light-field control, imaging in complex environments, polarization-sensitive detection, and next-generation optoelectronic integration.

To date, the group has achieved a series of research advances in diamond metasurface-based optical field manipulation, the integration of diamond metasurfaces with laser systems, as well as imaging and detection. Related results have been published in high-level journals at home and abroad, including Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, National Science Review, Science Advances, Advanced Science, Laser & Photonics Reviews, and Opto-Electronic Advances.
