About WIZZU

    Wellington College was approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2023 and offers three undergraduate programs in architecture (a 5-year program), landscape architecture (4-year program), and industrial design (4-year program). The undergraduate programs are implemented through a "4+0" (architecture program is "5+0") dual-certificate joint training model.

    Upon meeting graduation requirements, students will receive a bachelor's degree from Zhengzhou University, a bachelor's degree from Wellington Victoria University, and a certificate of graduation from Wellington College. The joint management committee, led by the presidents of both universities, oversees the operation of the college. 

    The college aims to build a high-quality collaborative educational institution with a vision of 30 years ahead, serving as a new highland of education openness in Henan Province, a demonstration highland of top-notch non-independent legal institutions of universities, and a highland of world-class architectural design talent certification, in support of the strategy of opening up Henan Province, building an educational powerhouse, and cultivating a talent-rich province. The college's goal is to cultivate top-notch talent with a sense of national pride and global vision, who are dedicated to serving the construction of ecological civilization in China and the building of a community of shared future for mankind. The college strives to build a high-level exemplary Sino-foreign cooperative institution, while constructing knowledge systems, ability systems, and curriculum systems that serve modern ecological civilization construction, adapt to the future intelligent and automated development, and integrate the advantages of both parties in running the college. Ultimately, the college aims to establish a new type of talent cultivation system. 

    1. A joint venture between Chinese and foreign institutions, leveraging the advantages of cooperative education, the college has introduced high-quality educational resources from the University of Wellington, Victoria, combined with the excellent educational resources and advanced training model of Zhengzhou University, to further enhance the quality of talent cultivation and promote the school's quality-oriented in-depth construction with a focus on quality improvement. With a vision of providing first-class education, a first-class faculty, first-class research outcomes, first-class social services, first-class scientific management, and first-class student quality, the college aims to provide support, consistency, assurance, and prestige for the creation of a world-class university, thereby achieving first-class educational outcomes. 

     2. A modern governance system featuring synergy between China and foreign countries is established at the college. The college's highest decision-making body is the Joint Management Committee. The committee is composed of personnel selected by Zhengzhou University and personnel selected by the University of Wellington Victoria. The chairman is appointed by Zhengzhou University, and the deputy chairman is appointed by the University of Wellington Victoria. In addition, to effectively manage teaching and academic affairs, the college establishes corresponding teaching and academic institutions, whose internal governance and decision-making must be approved by the Joint Management Committee. The college aims to enhance the students' and teachers' ideological and political education, improve their overall quality, and gradually improve the management efficiency, teaching quality, and academic level of the college. The college also established special service institutions to provide students with employment guidance, foreign language training, overseas exchange, and other services.

     3. Building a faculty and staff team that is adaptable to international education and teaching The cooperative parties of the college adhere to the principle of ensuring high-quality development to the greatest extent possible, and select a certain number of full-time teachers and administrators. The academic leaders, discipline leaders, and teaching and research teams at Wellington College have been recruited according to the high-level talent recruitment standards of world-class universities, and have been selected in accordance with the global faculty recruitment conditions of Victoria University of Wellington. In addition to the public course teaching arranged by the school, the faculty team for professional course teaching consists of three parts: Chinese faculty, foreign faculty from cooperative institutions, and full-time faculty recruited globally. The appointment, evaluation, management, and remuneration of these faculty members are all the responsibility of Wellington College. Chinese faculty account for one-third of the total, and are selected from the faculty of the School of Architecture and Mechanical and Power Engineering at Zhengzhou University, with an international perspective. Foreign faculty account for one-third, and are selected from the outstanding faculty of Victoria University of Wellington. The remaining one-third consists of English-native teachers and bilingual teachers, who are recruited globally. They must meet the overseas high-level talent recruitment standards of Zhengzhou University and also meet the recruitment standards and teaching requirements of Victoria University of Wellington. 

    4. The college has developed a seamless curriculum system that aligns with its partner universities abroad. Based on the requirements of the joint program, the college has conducted extensive research on the industry background and technical needs of the respective fields, and has determined the desired qualities, knowledge, and skills of graduates based on employability. By taking into account the unique features of each program and leveraging the college's own strengths and weaknesses, the college has adopted a course integration approach, wherein existing courses at the Chinese institution are combined with the educational resources of the foreign partner. The professional courses are fully aligned with those offered by the foreign university, meaning that the content, materials, teaching methods, and faculty qualifications are all jointly agreed upon and recognized by both sides. These measures enable students to fully align their academic abilities, cultural adaptability, and self-planning with those of foreign universities, thereby preparing them adequately for further study abroad. 5. Building a Teaching Quality Assurance System in Line with International StandardsThe college has established a teaching management and quality assurance system that meets international standards, ensuring quality assurance from various aspects such as the establishment of organizational structures for teaching management and quality assurance, recruitment, evaluation, and training of faculty members, the operation of teaching, and the combination of internal and external reviews. The series of teaching management systems and quality assurance mechanisms established have provided institutional guarantees for the operation of Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions and the assurance of teaching quality.6. Forming a Career Guidance System That Matches the Standards of World-class UniversitiesThe college attaches great importance to academic guidance, employment guidance, psychological counseling, and guidance for students to grow into talents. It has established and improved a comprehensive system for academic assessment and guidance, overseas study support, skill competition incentive system, psychological health assistance system, employment guidance service system, and entrepreneurship and internship assistance system to provide targeted support throughout the process. Among them, the academic assessment and guidance system is jointly responsible by course coordinators, teachers, and counselors, providing academic guidance and assistance to students, such as guiding students to understand the course setting and regulations. Guiding students in formulating and revising long-term or short-term academic plans: Helping students choose their areas of study (including major and minor subjects): Counseling students on how to utilize academic resources on campus: Strengthening the connection between mentors and students: Informing students of potential difficulties they may encounter in their studies and guiding them in clarifying their respective majors and areas of focus.
