Recently, Professor Andre Brown, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation at Victoria University of Wellington, and Professor Bruno Marques were invited to Zhengzhou University to attend the “The 1st International Conference of Resilient Conservation and Sustainable Development of Historic and Cultural Urban Landscape.” They each delivered keynote speeches titled "Resilient Protection of Industrial Heritage: A Digital Narrative Approach to Children's Education" and "Designing Healing Environments: Socio-Cultural Practices Promoting Health and Well-being."
This conference was organized by the Henan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Henan Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Henan Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage, Zhengzhou University, and the Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology. It was co-organized by the School of Architecture at Zhengzhou University and the Key Scientific Research Base of Urban Archaeology and Conservation, State Administration of Cultural Heritage, with the support of the Henan Provincial Institute of Architectural Conservation. The conference invited over 20 renowned experts from home and abroad and nearly 500 scholars from various universities, research, and design institutions across the country for a three-day academic discussion.
Professor Andre Brown delivered a keynote speech on “Resilient Protection of Industrial Heritage: A Digital Narrative Approach to Children’s Education,” while Professor Bruno Marques introduced New Zealand’s outstanding environmental design experiences with a keynote speech titled “Designing Healing Environments: Socio-Cultural Practices Promoting Health and Well-being.”
During the conference, the two professors visited WIZZU to discuss specific matters regarding faculty exchange, curriculum systems, talent cultivation plans, and admissions work. They were warmly received by Professor Chen Sikun, Dean of WIZZU, among others. Yang Genshun, Party Secretary of the School of Architecture, and the manager of the Industrial Design at the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering attended the discussions.
