Wellington Institute Holds IELTS Teaching Seminar

To enhance the quality of English teaching and explore efficient and innovative teaching models, Wellington Institute held an IELTS teaching seminar on September 3, 2024. Nine English teachers from the School of International Studies collaborated to design a new blueprint for IELTS course instruction for the 2024 freshmen of Wellington Institute. The seminar aimed to inject fresh momentum into students’ English learning journey through the introduction of new concepts and methods.

The seminar was chaired by Dean Chen Sikun of Wellington Institute. Dean Chen expressed sincere gratitude to the English teachers and highly praised their professionalism and teaching enthusiasm. He emphasized that the goal of offering IELTS courses is to ensure that every student can build a solid foundation in English, empowering them to pursue their future aspirations and achieve their dreams of study abroad without leaving the country.

Following this, the seminar engaged in in-depth discussions centered on “improving IELTS teaching quality and innovating teaching methods.” Teachers offered valuable suggestions regarding the selection and use of textbooks, innovative teaching approaches, and strategies for enhancing students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. There was unanimous agreement that modern teaching technologies such as multimedia and online resources should be fully utilized to enrich teaching methods and stimulate students’ interest and engagement. Additionally, emphasis was placed on fostering students’ autonomous learning abilities and cross-cultural communication skills, laying a solid foundation for future English immersion.

During the meeting, the teachers also shared and exchanged specific teaching cases, discussing practical solutions to challenges encountered in teaching. This spirit of openness and collaboration not only promoted the professional growth of the teachers but also injected new vitality into IELTS teaching at Wellington Institute.
