Xinhua News Agency-Mu Qing Research Center of Zhengzhou University，a key research base of humanities and social sciences in Henan Province colleges and universities, is an open and international journalism and communication academic research base with the main task of research and the spirit inheritance of Mu Qing.

On November 9, 2004, when visiting the School of Journalism and Communication of Zhengzhou University, Comrade Liu Yunshan, who was the head of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, pointed out that Mu Qing was a role model for contemporary Chinese journalists and it was very meaningful to carry out Mu Qing's research in universities . As Mu Qing's hometown, and numerous Mu Qing's works come from Henan, you should set up a Mu Qing Research Base to conduct in-depth and systematic research on journalistic practice of Mu Qing, which would be a good education for students.

According to the instructions of Comrade Liu Yunshan, Zhengzhou University established the Mu Qing Research Center and began a series of data collection and research work, achieving fruitful results in base construction, talent training, academic research and feed-back teaching.

In order to accelerate the development of the Mu Qing Research Center, on June 24, 2014, Xinhua News Agency and Zhengzhou University officially signed a contract to jointly establish the Mu Qing Research Center.

With the purpose of "exploring the spirit of Mu Qing to cast a square of famous journalists, studying the famous news articles to compose a new chapter of the digital era", the Mu Qing Research Center has established research directions such as Mu Qing research, research on famous news articles, special research on Xinhua News Agency and digital media research. Currently, there are 12 on-campus researchers and 26 part-time researchers.
