The Department of Radio and Television Studies was established in 2003, with the existing direction of Radio and Television Journalism and Radio and Television Art. Under the high attention and direct leadership of the university, through the active construction of the whole faculty and staff, it has formed the construction ideas and professional characteristics of focusing on concept cultivation, strengthening ability cultivation, improving social practice, having a strong sense of serving the society and highlighting the actual competitive ability.

The Department of Radio and Television has a strong faculty, with 4 full professors, 5 associate professors, 4 lecturers, including 1 special professor from Henan Province; 8 people have doctoral degrees, 8 people have overseas study and visiting background; 2 doctoral supervisors and 9 master supervisors. Over the years, teachers of the Department of Radio and Television have devoted themselves to scientific research and teaching, and have made outstanding achievements. A number of teachers have presided over several National Social Science Foundation projects and provincial and ministerial level research projects.

The Department of Radio and Television has a television production and broadcasting center, a live broadcasting center, as well as laboratories for public opinion release, aerial drone filming, video acting, news photography and media synthesis . The focus of the construction of the Department of Radio and Television Journalism is to form and highlight the core competitiveness of the major, and after these years of construction, a more complete and practicable idea and practice of professional awareness, professionalism and practice ability has been formed.

Most of the graduated students have entered traditional broadcasting and television organizations such as CCTV, Henan TV, Zhengzhou TV, and local TV stations, while a large number of outstanding graduates have entered famous new media organizations. A large number of graduates with research potential have entered Tsinghua University, Communication University of China, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University, Xiamen University and other universities for further study.
