1. Training objectives
The first level discipline doctoral program aims to cultivate high level research talents in journalism and communication with love for the motherland, good conduct and pursuit truth, news dissemination with innovative spirit, professionalism and good scientific morality。The training objectives of our doctoral students are:
(1)Have broad and professional theoretical knowledge. PhD candidates should master
Marxism and Relevant knowledge of the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, grasp the foundation of journalism and communication theory and frontier research achievements, have broad basic knowledge of humanities and social sciences and practical theoretical knowledge of journalism and communication.
(2)Have the ability to engage in scientific research.Be able to discover the frontier
knowledge, development trend of relevant disciplines; Be able to research and solve creatively Theoretical and practical issues related to journalism and communication;Independent high level ability of research and making innovative achievements.
(3)Have certain professional skills.Proficient in international academic exchanges;Able to assist both on campus and off campus tutors in teaching, scientific research and management work in colleges and universities and relevant business work in the news and communication industry conduct and manage work.
2. Basic schooling
The duration of doctoral study is 4 years. PhD candidates who cannot complete their studies within the prescribed length of schooling may apply for extension of the length of schooling .The maximum extension period for doctoral students is 3 years long. PhD candidates who have been approved to suspend their studies will be extended correspondingly after resuming their studies; PhD candidates approved to sent abroad by the government or jointly trained with overseas universities, spent the time studying abroad which is included in the length of study.
3. Research direction
Our doctoral program has four research directions: new media public communication, journalism, communication, audio-visual cultural communication.
