From April 14 to 16, Fudan University and Zhengzhou University jointly launched a journalism teaching activity entitled "Red Culture Inheritance and Marxist Journalism Education - Retracing Mu Qing's Road - A Trip to Langkao and Hongqi Canal" to trace Mu Qing's footprints, learn the spirit of Jiao Yulu and The event aims to trace the footsteps of Mu Qing, learn the spirit of Jiao Yulu and Hongqiqu, and carry on the mission of journalism. More than 20 teachers and students from the Marxist Journalism Teaching and Research Base of Fudan University and the Xinhua News Agency-Zhengzhou University Mu Qing Research Centre participated.
Lankao was the place where Jiao Yulu led the people in their struggle against natural disasters. During his work in Lankao, Jiao Yulu summed up the sand control method of "plastering first and sticking needles later" (turning silt and pressing sand, planting bubblegum to fix sand). He named one of the trees he planted with his own hands "Jiao Tong". Standing under the Jiao Tong tree, students and teachers listened to the story of Jiao Tong and revisited the momentous years of the people of Lankao in fighting the "three evils". Hearing Comrade Jiao Yulu's dying words, "I have not cured the sand dunes while I was alive, but I will see that the people of Lankao cure the dunes even after I die", the students and teachers present were moved by his spirit of love for the people, hard work, scientific pragmatism, rising to the challenge and selfless dedication.
At the Comrade Jiao Yulu Memorial Hall, a picture vividly reproduces the glorious life of Jiao Yulu who served the people wholeheartedly. In front of the manuscript of "The Role Model of County Party Secretary - Jiao Yulu", teachers and students from Fudan University and Zhengzhou University carried out on-site teaching, introducing the story of Mu Qing who wrote about Jiao Yulu three times and revisiting the famous piece of journalism deep in history. Through the presentation, the students deeply felt Mu Qing's journalistic sentiment of being rooted in the people and serving the people of the group.
The Hongqi Canal is a miracle in the world's water history, taking nearly ten years to build and known as the "artificial river of heaven". On the way to the Youth Cave, the water of the Hongqi Canal flowed slowly and the beautiful scenery of Linzhou came into view. At the entrance of the Youth Cave, the lead teacher told the story of Mu Qing's two interviews on the Red Flag Canal and the events behind "Two Shining Pictures", inspiring the students to root their journalism in the lives of the people.
These precious historical materials reflect the real situation of the construction of the Red Flag Canal and highlight the great Red Flag Canal spirit of "self-reliance, hard work, solidarity and selfless dedication". Faced with the photograph "Removing Danger in the Air", the students and teachers spoke excitedly about the story of the "blood belt" and the deep friendship between Mu Qing and Yang Gui, Ren Yangcheng and Guo Qiuying. The story of Mu Qing's interview with the Red Flag Canal workers is a vivid example of his style of interviewing at the grassroots level and his desire to never forget the people.
In front of the Hongqiqu Memorial Hall, Tong Bing, a senior professor of arts at Fudan University, encouraged students and teachers of the two universities to study the spirit of Hongqiqu seriously, "Firstly, we should have a comprehensive and profound understanding of the history of the construction of Hongqiqu and the media reports on it, use the spirit of Hongqiqu to inspire our study and work, and strengthen our team spirit; secondly, we should think about the relevance of the spirit of Hongqiqu after the 20th National Congress and in China today, and use the spirit of Hongqiqu to promote the development of Hongqiqu. The second is to think about the relevance of the spirit of Hongqiqu after the 20th National Congress and in today's China, and use the spirit of Hongqiqu to promote teaching and research work and the training of journalism and communication talents".
