In order to promote the integration of journalism and communication theory and practice, deepen students' understanding of news media transformation and advertising business, and further improve their professional awareness, in the morning of April 13, under the leadership of Professor Yan Jingyi and Associate Professor Li Jinglei, PhD supervisors of the School of Journalism and Communication of Zhengzhou University, and Associate Professor Han Wenjing, Director of the Department of Advertising, all students of our 2022 journalism and communication master's degree and 2021 advertising All the students from the School of Journalism and Communication (M.J.C.) and Advertising (B.A.) went to Henan Daily Newspaper Group - Top News for a visit and professional cognitive practice activities.
The students and teachers first visited the workplace of Top News, a subsidiary of Henan Daily Newspaper Group, to have a preliminary understanding of the basic structure of Top News and the process of news production.
"The visit to Top News was to give students a practical experience of the actual model of building party media and creating platform-based smart media, and to understand the specific process of integrated media news work." Professor Yan Jingyi indicated the significance of the visit and chaired the ensuing panel discussion.
"Top News is the "No.1 project" of Henan Daily's media reform, with the media positioning of "Henan's high-quality information distribution center", the enterprise positioning of "modern service resource integrator "We insist on cultivating Henan deeply and focus on building a platform-type intelligent media." Mr. Guan Guofeng, Chairman of Top News, spoke to the students as a brother of a 1994 graduate of the Journalism Department of Zhengzhou University about the development and business philosophy of Top News, and how the company went from a "wave" to a "giant wave" in a short period of time. At the end of the talk, Mr. Guan Guofeng inspired the students to "take up the responsibility of media people" and invited them to join him on Top News to speak out for Henan and for the times.
In the interactive session, students discussed with Mr. Guan Guofeng on how to balance the relationship between user experience, product revenue and product tone in media operation, and the atmosphere was cordial.
At the end, Professor Yan Jingyi summarised the event, expressing his gratitude to Top News and telling us how he felt about Top News along the way. Time will tell what Top News has chosen to do on the road of media transformation and development.
Through this visit, students gained a lot. Not only did they deepen their understanding of Top News, but they also gained a better understanding of the current business practices of media transformation and advertising, which will help them to become media talents in the age of media integration.
