Peng Yao, born in June 1989, is from Gushi, Henan Province, with a Ph. D. in literature. He graduated from the English Department of East China University of Science and Technology in 2009, received a master's degree in communication from Wuhan University in 2013, and a PhD in communication from Wuhan University in June 2017.

His main research interests are new online media and public opinion, and big data.
